The reaction of p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol and hydroxyl radicals
generated by the Fenton reaction is studied. The products of the reaction are
separated and identified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)–diode-array
detection and HPLC–mass spectrometry. According to the structures of the
products, a mechanism of the reaction is proposed.
