Computer-Assisted Optimization of Two-Step Development High-Performance

A computer-assisted method is presented for the optimization of two mobile phase compositions and the selection of development distance of a mixture of nine components in two-step development high-performance thin-layer chromatography. Optimization of the separation over the experimental region is based on two special polynomials estimated from preliminary runs of two groups. Excellent agreement is obtained between predicted and experimental results using Rf difference as the selection criterion and a three-factor statistical scanning technique.
