Overview of the Gas Chromatographic Separation of Enantiomers Containing a Three-Membered Ring
Bernhard Koppenhoefer and Ulrich Epperlein

Gas chromatography on a chiral stationary phase is one of the most suitable methods to determine the enantiomeric purity of volatile drugs, pesticides, flavors, and fragrances. With the increasing number of chiral stationary phases being developed, a convenient and rapid approach to store and access this wealth of information is needed. Instead of resorting to the time-consuming and expensive trial-and-error method, the analyst confronted with a particular separation task can chose the most promising candidates out of 347 chiral stationary phases stored in the molecular database Chirbase/GC (Version 1/95). To show the great variety of analytes currently published, we present a selected review of 260 enantiomer separations of 154 different molecules containing at least one three-membered ring.
