The Journal of Chromatographic Science
(JCS), published 10 times a year, is an international scientific
journal presenting the latest information concerning the practice
and theory of chromatography. Worldwide readership includes scientists,
educators, researchers, and analytical chemists actively involved
in the use of chromatography. The editorial content of JCS focuses
on research papers describing practical and preparative applications
and analytical methods relevant to a broad range of laboratory
work. Editorial quality is assured by a thorough and vigorous
peer-review system. Each regular issue contains five to ten reviewed
manuscripts as well as news, troubleshooting (column, detector,
instrument, etc.), and these special features:
HIGH-PRIORITY CHROMATOGRAPHY COMMUNICATIONS:
JCS provides rapid publication of short (2,000-word maximum) manuscripts
containing significant information on new contributions to the
field. Manuscript acceptability is determined by a special review
board; if accepted, publication is guaranteed within six weeks.
NEW PRODUCTS, LITERATURE AND SOFTWARE:
The latest instrumentation, equipment, and supplies from domestic
and foreign manufacturers are described and pictured. A review
of newly released technical brochures, newsletters, application
notes, and product catalogs of particular interest to chromatographers
is also included.
MEETINGS AND SHORT COURSES:
A calendar of forthcoming events (designed for both novice and
experienced separation scientists) includes educational meetings,
seminars, and discussion groups as well as national and international
gatherings of the chemical community.
SPECIAL ISSUES:
Each year, special issues are scheduled to provide JCS readers
with up-to-date references on specific areas of chromatography.
In 2002 there were three special issues—Fast Chromatography,
a follow-up look at Solid-Phase Microextraction (SPME), and Planar
Chromatography. Other special issues have covered Drugs and Pharmaceuticals,
Petrochemical Analysis, and papers presented at the Pittsburgh
Conference. Experience has shown these special issues to be well-read
and well-cited by separation scientists.
EDITORS:
The co-editors of JCS are Huba Kalász of Semmelweis University, and Neil Danielson
of Miami University
